Today, the Ohio Senate Democrats announced a substantial $178,336.44 fundraising total for the January 31st deadline, more than doubling their total amount raised by this time last cycle. Their cash on hand ($221,181.74) is more than 5x last cycle’s total.
“The Senate Dems have been fighting to help hardworking Ohio families, and these numbers show Ohioans are paying attention,” said Senate Minority Leader Kenny Yuko. “Voters deserve a government that reflects their values. When Democrats win more seats in 2020, it will make the Statehouse more like Ohio.”
In addition to their strong fundraising numbers, the Ohio Senate Dems have recruited a full slate of candidates to run in each of the 16 districts on the ballot in 2020. Three of the districts have competitive primaries as well.
“We’ve recruited candidates in every Senate District on the ballot this year, ensuring the Republican majority must defend themselves everywhere in Ohio. No Senator gets to walk into office next year without explaining themselves to the voters,” said Senator Nickie Antonio, Campaign Chair for the Ohio Senate Dems. “Ohioans deserve a robust debate to choose the candidate who will best represent their needs and interests.”
The Ohio Senate Dems’ election activities are managed this cycle by a full campaign team, including Finance Director Millie Vaughan and Campaign Director Rachel Coyle, both of whom have extensive experience in Ohio legislative and statewide politics.
